Today, we read on the BBC website:
‘Scots ‘more optimistic about future’, according to BBC survey’

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-44301827
and spotted the graph above showing the sunny disposition of Yessers.
The full report is not yet on the YouGov website, but I am able to reveal, based on my contacts in the research industry, the shocking news that the researchers found a very strong negative correlation between watching BBC Scotland News and pessimism about the future – those who regularly watched BBC Scotland News were statistically much more likely to be pessimistic about the future. Amongst researchers into Scottish culture and politics, this is known as the IM/IMNO Jolly spectrum.

I’m also informed that the data on this will not be released and that the lead researcher has been reported for bringing both the BBC and YouGov into disrepute. The BBc has previous on this. See:
This is not the first time I have been able to use my extensive contacts amongst researchers, some of whom I corrupted, sorry, inspired, in my former days. See these:
BBC Scotland radio audiences plummet
BBC Radio Scotland is in terminal decline with 35% fewer listeners in only 7 years
IMNO Jolly Spectrum. Brilliant Prof. Chapeau.

It seems the full results are now available on the BBC website. I have down loaded them but don’t know how to post them here.

Further evidence of the improved Scottish confidence and optimism even spreading to foreign parts? – From the Scottish legal site today:
After a period of dormancy the Scottish Bar Association of New York (SCOTBARNY) will host a revival event on June 7, from 7.00pm, at the offices of Hughes Hubbard & Reed LLP: One Battery Park Plaza, New York, NY 10004-1482.
The event is an opportunity for members and friends of SCOTBARNY to come together and catch up, as well as mingle with newer additions to the pool of Scots – and those who share a keen interest in Scotland who have made their way to New York City.
Whisky tastings and other refreshments will be provided to help the patter flow.
SCOTBARNY is excited to have a new calendar in the works, which will offer events and gatherings over the next 12 months that aim to help 3,200 miles away feel a wee bit closer.

Just stopping reading the news and newspapers will make anyone feel more optimistic and in control of their lives. News is scientifically crafted to push the fear buttons. It’s a universal feature of ‘the news’, true whether it’s BBC Scotland, the Daily Mail in England, Fox News in the USA, etc.

Exactly this.
I have completely removed state and corporate propaganda from my daily life and it is much better.
If only 6 Music would drop their hourly BS bulletin though. It spoils what is otherwise the best radio station out there!

Waking up the blog with a non-modelling related post but rest assured, there is much else to follow in modelling and other matters.
