I hope it’s not personal, homophobic or sexist or whatever but I’ve long thought she does need a bit of rebuffing to reduce her loud, bullish, buffalo-straddling, Boris Johnson-like, persona and tendencies. Ah, reading on, it seems I’ve misunderstood the term rebuffed. Must be my age. Theresa may has rebuffed her. Oooh, an even worse image for my pervy old 70s mind.
Sorry about that. Here’s the real story. Ruth wanted Theresa to drop her immigration target. She even suggested that some immigration was good for the economy and may have seemed to accuse Theresa of ‘easy slogans’. Ooooh, dangerous.
Theresa has rebuffed her. That’s about it. Get back in your box little Scottish leader. I’m the PM remember? They say Ruth is well-liked by ornery English Tories but she’ll need to remember they’re not in charge. Theresa is.
I don’t know about you, but I think we’ve passed peak Ruth. She’s served her purpose and will have little influence in future.
I like the term “past peak Ruth” but I think there is more entertainment to come. I detect extreme brexit jitteriness amongst people who were previously birling pirouettes, clapping wildly at the thought of a hard brexit. Chapman, the brexit communication adviser comes to mind. When the head appears above the parapet whose hands are giving the elevated lift? She won’t be standing on the back of some innocent ruminant. Fun times and tears for some ahead.

Yes more entertainment for sure but Theresa has put her in her place I think

Apparently her article in The Telegraph (I think – didn’t read it) called for a public discussion on immigration numbers. Nigel Farage picked this as a subject for his LBC programme (can’t believe some folk are still giving him air time) and invited her on to discuss it. He was told by the “Scottish” Conservatives that they were “not doing media” which seems a strange way of having a discussion.
This was maybe just a soundbite for our consumption to enable her fanbase at BBC Sweaty to report that she was “fighting Scotland’s corner” If so, she she must have forgotten to tell Damien Green of her cunning plan.

Something of a “one-trick pony” I think. I would guess the Tories will only bring her to the front again if Indyref2 re-enters the agenda.
