The Broken BBC From Public Service to Corporate Power by Gavin Lewis

The Broken BBC

The BBC has no democratically elected positions of real power. It has allowed itself to forget the ideology that both brought it into being and which ratified its continued existence.32 If it now finds itself increasingly irrelevant to its social base and at risk of extinction, then it only has itself to blame. Without a genuine, representative sociological and intellectual connection to the society it purportedly serves, it is not really public service broadcasting, but corporate propaganda, and in the long run, who will care if that survives?
