Thanks to a parliamentary question last Wednesday, we can see that police staffing is more than 50% higher than in England & Wales. Prison staffing is nearly 18% higher.

Some, of course, will say this is Scotland being subsidised by the UK when it is really the effect of different policies. England & Wales would be better staffed if Tory decision-makers valued their constituents more than the affluent few, like their backers and themselves.

Police Scotland has, along with ScotRail, NHS, and Schools , been one of the principal foci of attack by the BBC Scotland Bad News and Recurrent Mendacious Affairs department.
They will argue that we need such high numbers because of our inherent, congenital predisposition towards violence. Witness the violence after the recent Old Firm match, attended by 60 000 people, almost all of whom behaved correctly. Sure they would have made a bit of noise and bellowed some ‘sweary words’ during the match, but, on the way home conducted themselves law abidingly.

John many of your exposes feature regularly on FM’s Q’s and the responses given by our FM often are less robust and get the feeling she is not benefitting form all your hardwork. If not already you might want to send a link to your website so she is fully conversant with the facts in future.

An English hospital has said it will no longer take in patients from Wales except emergencies and maternity cases.
The Countess of Chester NHS Foundation Trust decision will impact on thousands of people in Flintshire who currently use it, with immediate effect.
The decision follows a row over payments to the hospital for caring for patients from Wales.
A Welsh Government spokesman said limiting access to Wales’ patients on financial grounds was “not acceptable”.
GPs in Wales will no longer be able to refer patients for treatment over the border at the hospital.
A Welsh Government spokesperson, said it was not a decision they had taken themselves. “In the context of ongoing engagement, any actions taken by
English providers to limit access for Welsh patients on financial grounds are unacceptable and not in the spirit of reaching a cross-border agreement with
English NHS representatives.”
I wonder whether the construction of the Countess of Chester Hospital was financed exclusively with tax revenues derived from England based taxpayers? Somehow I doubt that very much. Are brexit-type plans now being expanded to cover ‘internal’ borders also? I think we should be told.
