On Reporting Scotland today, the headline is:
‘Ruth Davidson accuses the Scottish government of offering nothing but warm words over the possible early release of a man who murdered an Ayrshire teenager.’
over the long close-up shot of the victim.
Later Brian Taylor tells us that it’s ‘on the agenda’ but that Davidson wants ‘concrete action now.’
Davidson knows fine that’s how a democracy operates, carefully and thoroughly discussing the options. She knows that ‘concrete action now’, without debate, is what you get in dictatorships and that it can often be the sort action that most of us might fear. None of this, however, matters, of course, because she is coldly pursuing an opportunity, any opportunity, to attack the First Minister and, with the collusion of the loyalist media, score a political point. BBC Scotland do not disappoint her. Any psychology student will spot in politicians like Davidson the characteristic behaviour of the psychopath, coldly exploiting the heartbroken parents and using their pain and anger to construct a weapon she can use for purely political gain.
Keen as ever to display their loyalist behaviour to someone they have been nurturing as the (last) hope of the Union, BBC Scotland give the story prominence and regular repeats fearing not that to do so exposes them as charlatans and lackeys.
Talking-up Scotland 
We all want justice for victims and it is the Scottish Government ‘s job to make sure they get it , if things need to be changed so be it , but to make vicims come to the parliament while you shout for justice is making a patsy out of them .Davidson and Leonard are good at doing that sort of thing , you wonder what they say to people to get them there .
Davidson and Leonard are people users , they don’t care about these people , all they are looking for is an SNP baad headline, which the BBC naturally provides! .

I heard this matter on the radio this evening. It was presented in a way that BBC Scotland has done for years – highlighting the Tory statement, amplifying it and then having the FM reply (when Labour was in power the same tactic was deployed with a Labour spokesperson having to respond.)
Interestingly, the BBC Scotland website makes no mention specifically although it is included in the standard feature on FM questions.
The lead on the site is the fact that a medical report specifically identifies the use of a mesh implant having been the cause of death of a woman. On the radio report, this was only the third item after THE COLONEL, Mr Leonard and then Mr Finlay with his question.
For some time now, there have been no interviews with THE COLONEL, with only ‘cameos’ which allow her to grandstand without any questions, being broadcast. These are usually relayed via the UK media to present her as OUR NEXT PM.

Is this not Ms Davidson trying to get her own back for a case a few weeks ago about a young woman in Dundee(?) being raped by a prisoner on early release. Some Tories went to town on it as an example of the Scottish Government’s ‘failed’ policy. Then it transpired that the perpetrator had been released early from an English jail.
It seems that every week either Labour or the Tories drag someone into Holyrood to parade them at FMQs trying to score points against the SG. They are using vulnerable people who often do have a genuine complaint but this is not the way to advance that complaint or remedy the failure of the process that caused it.

Good point. I’m not so sure it was common under Labour but either way it remains bias in protecting Ruth at times and in giving her centre-stage at others?

Liam, Nowhere in my posting did I mention anti-SNP bias. Some people might well believe that there is anti-SNP bias in such things. When I read some ‘have your say’ threads on the BBC website there are posters who are on the right wing claiming BBC bias against Brexit, UKIP, Donald Trump.

Absolutely abhorrent! Truly disgusted at this, using the grief and heartbreak of parents to score political points!! For someone who is soon to be a mother herself, I can only hope she shows more compassion and empathy in her future role!

FMQT isnt a show and tell. If it was we would have questions being asked abput Dark Money. Its time to leave these childish stunts in the play ground. Does Ruth Davidson really want action knowing that it cannot happen without the proper system being used. Stop grandstanding leave people’s lives out of it and try and be a politician and do your day job. There is not one reason she couldn’t of followed through as the family expected of her but she is the laziest politician and passes the problem on instead of dealing with it in the proper manner. Try doing your day job Ruth.

An approach to dealing with repeat offenders in Aberdeen Sheriff Court has the potential to benefit other areas, according to a new report which found that it “shows promise”.
The Aberdeen Problem-Solving Approach (PSA) aims to reduce the use of custodial sentences and cut reoffending by addressing the underlying problems linked with persistent offending.
An independent review of the initiative – commissioned by the Scottish government and carried out by Ipsos MORI Scotland and the University of Stirling/Scottish Centre for Crime and Justice Research – found its results encouraging and recommended that other areas of Scotland consider setting up similar initiatives.
While some specialist courts focus on a particular type of crime or problem, such as domestic abuse or drug use, the Aberdeen PSA is the first of its kind in Scotland to specialise in women and young men with multiple complex needs and a history of frequent low-level offending.
Instead of being sent to prison, participants are given a deferred sentence while they engage with social workers and support workers to address the underlying problems linked to their offending.
They also return to court regularly to have their progress reviewed by a sheriff, who provides praise, warnings and encouragement as appropriate.
The researchers found that overall, professionals were very positive about the approach – but reported that it was less successful for people with more entrenched problems and those who were not yet ready to change.

Ruths party politics from the gutter. Imagine if the SG were presenting families wose loved ones have died while going through the appalling welfare cuts and appeals processes inflicted on them by Ruths party, bbc and their like would be outraged.
