60% support for independence according to poll in, of all places, the Scotsman

Still active at the time of writing, 16.6.18 at 09.09am, the Scotsman’s poll had a sample of 8 149. This is quite a big sample compared to that of 1 000 used typically by most polling companies but it is quite limited in reliability by being self-selecting. Intriguingly though and perhaps raising the reliability a bit, you needed to have an account with the Scotsman (not necessarily paying) to vote, and, judging by readers comments over the years, there is some evidence that the Scotsman tends to attract No rather than Yes supporters. Of course, I have no empirical evidence of this nor can we really assume anything about the representativeness of the sample. Also, likely to be factors in this response, will be the SNP walk-out, the consequent Tory benches sneering, Mundell’s mendacity and the conversion of Murray Foote, the ‘man behind the Vow’, to the independence cause.

In response to the question: ‘Has the Brexit process made you more or less likely to vote for Scottish independence?’:

More likely                                          33%

Less likely                                            7%

Unchanged: I remain a No voter        34%

Unchanged: I remain a Yes voter        27%

I know, ca’ canny but we can still enjoy it as one wee bit of apparently good news.

Remember the poll near the end of the 2014 referendum giving Yes a small lead. This was used as the starting gun for a last ditch onslaught by Westminster. Is that what this Scotsman poll is, a starting gun for the Unionists. In a Unionist paper?

Only a lunatic would think the whole Brexit situation and the disgraceful contempt and ignorance being shown to Scotland is a reason to stay in the union. a lunatic.

We will never convince people who believe Scotland is an imprisoned Colony to vote Yes no matter what

Certainly explains a lot!! Twitter is absolutely HOOCHIN’ with trolls, who are admitting quite openly & freely that they lied to pensioners & about our economy just to keep Scotland in the Union, to get their hands on our oil. They admit quite frankly they don’t want US Scots – just the oil. Lovely… Lol! It’s a fair comment – I don’t want to be in their union…. But that DANG BLACK STUFF!! If it wasn’t for that, we’d have been free 4 years ago! Dearie me… LOL!

The 34%\27% No/Yesratio is considerably more anti independence than the referendum result. I think that this makes this outcome even more significant than the ( very good) figures suggest.

It depends on how many of those reporting being more likely to support independence after Brexit were already Yes supporters?

I’m comparing the numbers with the referendum result, the only hard figure available afaik.

And, also, how many of those reporting being less likely to support Independence will actually remain Yes voters.

Talk about clutching at straws and sheer desperation. For fuck sakes, its an online poll, and run on the PlayBuzz platform where people can vote as many times as they like. These polls are WORTHLESS.

They’re put on as clickbait. Each time the page is shown, the paper gets one impression for each advert on the page. The more the page is opened, the more they make.

And with the braindead retards repeatedly opening it to keep voting, the Scotman just made a fortune off you all.
