Will ye go lassie go, please? Ruth Davidson to dump us if we dump her?

Ruth has hinted that that she might stand for a Westminster seat if she doesn’t win the next Holyrood election. As support for the Scottish Tories falls back below that of the Labour Branch in Scotland, I’d suggest she hasn’t the slightest chance of winning a Scottish election. A coalition with Kezia’s old Blairite party might have been an outside possibility but it’s clear that Richard the Lionheart will be taking Labour leftward, in an attempt to outflank the SNP and join up with the English forces of St Corbyn, so that can’t happen.

If she were to go down to London, I think she’d do well. In the Scottish context, compared with Sturgeon and others in the SNP, she’s far from impressive but look at the Tories in London – Theresa, Boris, Rudd, Fox, Gove, Loathsome. She’s not up to much, I admit, but she could still beat most of them. According to Sky News:

‘Ms Davidson insisted, in a candid interview with The Spectator magazine, that her top priority was to become Scotland’s First Minister in Holyrood elections in 2021.But she said, if that did not happen, she would be open to offers to stand for a Westminster seat, though she was adamant that she would only fight a Scottish constituency. Last month, the charismatic Ms Davidson gave a barnstorming speech when she was guest of honour at a dinner in the mid Sussex constituency of Tory grandee Sir Nicholas Soames. Her appearance prompted speculation that Sir Nicholas, 69, and grandson of Sir Winston Churchill, is preparing to stand down at the next election – due in 2022 – to make way for her.’

She does have a Churchillian manner about her. As for Soames, didn’t some lady say having sex with him was like having a wardrobe fall on you, with the (wee) key still in?

It wouldn’t be fair for us to stand in her way. We’d just have to do the best we can without her and when we leave the UK we can leave her behind at the same time. Sorted!

Ruth Davidson following in the footsteps of a failed troupe of Tory MP s from Scotland will neither be a loss to Scotland or a benefit to the Tories as I believe that once the reality of Brexit dawns on the English voters the Tories will be beyond toxic there.
But,Hey Ho! , what better than a Scottish scapegoat as I see Gordon Brown is being blamed for the parlous state of the Royal Navy merely for being Scottish.

“There are few more impressive sights than a Scots(wo)man on the make”. Perhaps we are seeing an example of JM Barrie’s ambivalent quote. There are certainly a lot of examples of Tories, rejected by the electorate in Scotland who have ‘found billets’ for themselves in safe seats in England – Messrs Rifkind, Fox, Ancram, Malone come to mind. In doing so, they become ultraBritish nationalists and, in such a role are regular pundits as ‘proud Scots’ in the msm, pointing out how really shite we are (in tones of honey laced with cyanide.

Undoubtedly, for a couple of years around 2014/16, plenty of Labourites saw her as the leader of a new party.

If we were really lucky, she might take the D’Hondt voting system with her!!

And on the Gordon Brown point made by Macgilleleabhar, he did trachle the RN by sending them a boat with a wee seepage of water.

I have refreshed my memory ( 30 second attention span) as regards my mention of Gordon Brown being scapegoated for the RN being in such a shambles, I read it in an article by Mike Small in Bella Caledonia who was quoting Max Hastings from the Daily Mail:

“There were still enough sensible people in the Ministry of Defence to prevent this lunacy coming to pass, but for one misfortune: in 2007, Gordon Brown became Labour prime minister. In case you failed to notice, he was, and remains, a Scot.”

Doesn’t seem as if Scots are flavour of the moment with one nation neighbour possibly putting wee Ruth’s ball on the slates and I don’t suppose the “North Briton” is best pleased at such an insult as being called a Scot.
Mike Small goes on to quote the Times and financial times reporting how because of breakdowns and other foreseeable problems such as chronic lack of crews the RN is shore based in Portsmouth with no operational warships any where in the world for the first time in living memory.

Not much of a bang for £6.2 Billion bucks but it is all Scotland’s fault and sorry Ruth but sooner or later your luck may change.

They’ll take her if she betrays us good and proper? As long as Somali runners and Australian tennis players say they’re English, they’re in and up for honours if they bag enough medals.

Well, say what you like about Ruthie, she has gumption (or a brass neck). She has been “eased” into Holyrood and the Leadership of the Scottish Tories by friends in the party. But, she has now been leader for 6 years, and for 5 of them she was an undoubted failure. Its only now, after gaining some traction due to the indy referendum, she has been highlighted by the British nationalist commentariat way beyond any actual achievements .
But ask for a policy position or an answer to a hard question and Ruthie goes into hiding. This is why she will rise no higher (nor should she) in the ranks of the UK Tory party. Also she quite simply cannot occupy the highest Offices at Westminster from a Scottish constituency .
Her Scottish origins should not be an issue if this was a truly United Kingdom, but this is the Daily Mail/Telegraph Britain, and it WILL resonate among the hamlets and big hooses of the Shires gentry.
