Along with a £4 million loan from the Bank of Scotland and £1 million from Forth Housing Association (FHA) and Stirling, as total of £13 million will be used to build 130 new badly needed affordable homes across the town.
The FHA already has 800 homes in the area. The Chairperson of FHA said:
‘This is all part of our effort to support the Scottish Government in delivering its target of building 35,000 new affordable homes over the next five years. Getting on the housing ladder remains a big challenge in this area as house prices and rents continue to rise, so there is a considerable demand for social housing locally.’
I hope readers are not tired of me reminding them that the Scottish Government is building affordable housing at twice the rate per capita of that in Theresa’s brutal kingdom but just in case:

🙂 I was just writing about that. It’s the fact she says ‘radical solutions are needed’ then says post-war solutions could be used: the words out of her mouth are just garbled nonsense. We ask ourselves too, why are Ruth’s radical new proposed solutions being reported, but the fact that the Scottish government has already implemented solutions we hear nary a mention? Nobody can tell me our media is fair, ever.

I am sure you have heard by now that Ruth Davidson is suggesting that Scotland needs more houses,,, jeezo, she’s a bit late into the game is she not? I await, with great anticipation,,,, ooo, here she is, actually getting interviewed on the radio. She wants more towns. Again I hear about ‘radical’ solutions needed, what is this with politicians thinking we need radical changes, and from the conservatives?! She’s talking about post-war new towns, and how that model could be used – ooo, very radical 🙂 . Ahh, she refuses to accept Maggie Thatcher’s right-to-buy is a problem. She’s being asked about the bigoted councillors the Scot Tories needed to readmit because they are so desperate for people,,, and Gary has suggested it’s reasonable she’s been called a hypocrite (answer is incomprehensible). Ruth doesn’t think Douglas Ross needs education on being bigoted. EU subject now, we are getting a full-on interview here! Not that Ruth actually says anything useful or interesting, words of no substance seem to be her only way of responding. Anyway, apologies for mentioning radio Scotland, but it was relevant to housing, and quite exciting because Ruth has avoided interviews for so long now.
I am sure we will be getting an article on the UN findings on how the governments treat disabled people soon, and how the only praise in the report was for the Scottish government, the U.K. Government has yet again been accused of abusing human rights:

Aye, I should imagine Nicola will ask Ruth about it if she gets the opportunity – but therein lies a problem with our political systems, there is no mechanism to hold any of the politicians to account, the media are left with that job, and they fail on that quite atrociously. I am hoping the revision of Holyrood helps, but apart from using the media, or first minister’s questions, when could Nicola get the opportunity? We know that the media will always back the establishment politicians – let’s face it, if the SNP were anything less than squeaky clean they’d get a full backlash from the media – so it would never be reported. I mean, are people not concerned that the Tory government has no qualms about abusing human rights, and even spending extra money to do so (ah, the fallacy of so-called austerity.)? Anyway, parliament is back next week is it not, we can see if anything happens there.

Since we’re on Housing matters was good to note that SNP/Labour administration on Fife Council have finally managed to cajole the MOD (controlled by Tory Westminster Govt) into putting its surplus housing stock around Leuchers’ Station into the private rental sector. The Tory Govt have run down personnel at Leuchers very heavily over recent years and had left multiple MOD houses lying empty.
The local SNP representatives and others have been pressuring for action and have achieved some (limited) success. 129 properties have been identified and the Tory administered MOD have been shamed into letting 31 (with another 8 under deposit). Hopefully this breakthrough will lead to furhter empty houses being brought back into use for local communities to benefit. Given the sudden drop in local economic activity resulting from the Tory driven personnel cuts the delay in releasing these properties demonstrates the callous disregard the Tory Govt has for local communities affected by their ideologically driven policies.
I would have thought Col. Davidson – whilst attending London cabinet as she claims to routinely do – might have raised this matter herself. Of course, she has had lots of other things on her mind – organising all that necessary Diversity Training for her Tory councillors and Dougie Ross MP probably.

Oddly enough it was Councillor Dave Dempsey (Tory) who pushed for this in the first instance, but was held back by the Labour majority who were in administration at the time.
