You know, if we really loved our Queen, we’d have called it the ‘Saxe-Coburg and Gotha Kreuzung’ in respectful memory of her original family name. Not only that, we wouldn’t have let that pushy wee First Minister open it first with a show of lights and claims of coming in under budget. The nerve of the woman! Here’s the video:

The bridge will be open on Wednesday 30thAugust, today. I’ve no idea when the official and therefore pointless second opening will be and, of course, I couldn’t give a. It’s been a huge success. Though delayed by bad weather including some of the highest winds the contractors had ever faced, the bridge has come in almost £250 million or nearly 20% under budget. That’s right a capital expenditure project under budget. The government of the day takes the credit I think. If it had come in over budget they’d have got the stick. Further, these savings are in addition to £512 million which was saved during the procurement phase. Clearly not a bridge too far but a bridge at just the right amount.
What’s not to be proud of?
We’ll get the usual sour grapes from the usual suspects though as they have a fertile vinyard to choose from.

Are the “End of Britain” ads after the article a Unionist trap? Or clever positioning by the advertiser.

Aye, you’re richt John. We’re a bolshie crew. Still, at the en’ o’ the day it IS Nicola’s brig an’ she can dae whit she likes wi’ it!
It’s a shame all the video on the web of the light display is amateur production. It was much more spectacular than it appears. It will be interestng to see how many professional film crews are around at another bridge event on Monday.

Im proud to be scottish but not under a nationlist party!! Its easy to come under budget!! After travesty of the concrete slab opposite Holyrood (yes Holy not Holly) can’t even pronounce our own parliament corrcectly, then Edinburgh trams short of distance well over budget (double whammy) so announce that 3rd Forth Bridge will cost (inflate cost) then obviously it comes under budget!! Dont treat us like fools..

95% + of the world, including John Robertson, seem to think that the Monarchy of the UK is called the Queen of England….. end of ! The quote above sickens me as a non English person, as it would from anyone from Northern Ireland, Wales or Scotland.
* “FIRST MINISTER OF SCOTLAND STEALS THE QUEEN OF ENGLAND’S THUNDER AND LIGHT BY OPENING THE QUEENSFERRY CROSSING FIRST” *

I was being ironic but you’re right about the other 95%
